Oklahoma has no qualifying conditions to get a medical marijuana card. Therefore, a patient does not have to have any particular medical condition to obtain a medical marijuana patient license. According to §442:10-1-9.1. (b) of OMMA rules and regulations, "When recommending a medical marijuana license, a physician shall use the accepted standards a reasonable and prudent physician would follow when recommending any medication to a patient."
Oklahoma does not issue same-day licenses medical marijuana licenses. Once your application is submitted, OMMA (Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority) has up to 14 business days to approve, reject, or deny your application. Since there are no qualifying conditions in Oklahoma, your application can only be rejected or denied based on the accuracy of the information you submit. Keep in mind a rejection can be cured and resubmitted for approval.
OMMA guidances as of *1/6/2026: "You no longer have to wait for your physical card to arrive in the mail to visit a dispensary.
If your application has been approved, you may now use your official OMMA approval email or approval in the OMMA MedPortal as a temporary form of licensure. Simply present the following at any licensed Oklahoma dispensary:
An official OMMA approval email or proof of approved status in the OMMA MedPortal (or a photo of a physical OMMA patient card)
AND a valid government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license or passport)
The dispensary will use OMMA Verify to confirm your active status at the time of sale. Please note that while your physical card is still being processed and mailed, this digital option allows you to shop as soon as you receive your approval notice."
